picking up glitter with tweezers

As I mentioned in the last post, I went to a talk by Tara Janzen where she gave great (and practical!) writing tips.  In addition to the nuts and bolts, she spent time talking about the writing process (and the rewriting and rewriting and rewriting...).

The phrase that stuck with me the most was that for her, writing was tough.  She likened her writing process to picking up glitter with tweezers....one word at a time.  (What a revelation--if you've ever read any of Ms. Janzens' books, you know they flow fast and smooth through the action to the end.)

So here I am today, in the middle of a major rewrite prior to submitting my manuscript and Tara was dead-on accurate.  Glitter, meet tweezers.  We'll be here a while.
